Mintaro — P, T, MO, 82 miles N ; population 600 ; situated on the River Wakefield, elect Stanley, and has railway communication with the metropolis daily by means of the North line, which passes through it. It has two hotels, Court house, R Catholic, Wesleyan, and P Methodist Chapels, state school, flour mill, large stores, &c. The Mintaro slate quarries are adjacent to the town, and a considerable revenue is derived from them annually. Wheat and other cereals are largely produced in the district.
