Mintaro report

MINTARO.
[From our own Correspondent.]
Mintaro, October 30.
The weather is very warm, with hot winds from the north, which will bring on the haymaking season quick. I believe a great many will be cutting hay in about 10 days. The crops look heavy.
In going through the Wakefield District yesterday I observed that the lightning during the late storm had carried away one whole side and part of two other sides of a zinc-roofed verandah which surrounded the house of the late Mr. T. Evans. None of the inmates were injured.
The Bible Christian Chapel just erected within a short distance of Mr. Evans’s is nearly completed, and it is a very nice building—a credit to the neighbourhood.
The Wesleyan body at Mintaro are also making good headway. A great quantity of stone is on the ground, obtained from Mr. Bowman’s property, that gentleman having given permission to do so.
