Cards—The winners of the fortnightly card evening held in aid of the Institute Funds were:—Bridge, Mrs. Swapper and Mr. LeBrun; euchre, Mrs. V. Jenner and Mr. B. Midwinter.
Red Cross—The annual meeting of the Red Cross Circle was held on Wednesday July 11th, 12 ladies were present. Apologies were received from Mrs. T. Jacka and Misses G. Puckridge and J. Hean. Officers elected for year 1951/52 were—President, Mrs. R. Tickle; Vice-Pres., Mrs. T. Jacka; Secretary, Mrs. M. Ridgway; Treasurer, Mrs. V. Jenner; Committee, Mesdames N. Marston, A. Hall, R. Gill and F. McNamara; Social Committee, Mesdames E. Jacka and L. McKay and Misses M. Jenner, I. Puckridge, J. Hean and P. Hall. Caretakers of Medical Loan Depot, Mesdames Midwinter and S. Davis. Meetings are still to be held quarterly and to be Social afternoons. A carton for secondhand clothing in goor repair is to be placed at Mr. Pulford’s Store. All contributions will be gratefully received.
This and That—My thanks go to Mrs. N. Marston, who showed me an engraved silver trowel that was presented to Mr. Marston’s grandfather, Mr. T. Priest when he officiated at the Laying of the Foundation Stone ceremony of the Police Station in 1867.
Mintaro footballers were defeated at Manoora last Saturday. It looks as tho’ the ‘blues’ will have to ‘pull their sox up’ with a vengeance and they have 3 hard games ahead of them—Come on Blues!
Personal.—Sincerest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Lucy Bawden who passed away at Gawler last Friday. Mrs. Bawden was a former resident of Mintaro and was a highly respected citizen.
