MINTARO, April 28.
The farmers are busy ploughing and sowing, the late rains having been very beneficial to them. A great deal of new land will be under crop this year—a deal of it being fallowed last year; and although we have hitherto sent in good returns, should the season prove favorable, next year will exceed all previous returns.—The Daniel Family paid us a visit yesterday evening. They had a good attendance, which their performances merited.—We have succeeded in retaining the services of Police trooper Abbott, for which general satisfaction is felt.—The farming population are at a great loss here, in consequence of having no machinist in this extensive district. The slightest accident causes a great loss of time, as we have to go to Clare, Auburn, or Kapunda. This in harvest time is most unfortunate.
